Spring in the Palouse

A tell-tale or telltale is an indicator, signal, or sign that conveys the status of a situation, mechanism, or system.

While painting plein air in the Palouse this past weekend a new thought; ok, maybe an old and new thought : how do you paint the wind?

Blustery out there among the wheat fields; a new front coming though in a constant motion; ever changing.

Across the hills visually display a rhythmic pattern as the wind ripples on the surface of the fields.

It is the clouds that describe the fronts and, alas, the wind is presented in a descriptive and in an evocative means.

A tell – tale sign, for sure.
